The Animal Specialist Technician will provide animal husbandry care and support for a research institute. Incumbent will be responsible for cleaning/sanitizing animal housing and associated areas, providing food, water and enrichment, and performing basic health observations. Incumbent will also be responsible for administering water restriction and unique diets in accordance with various research protocols.
The Animal Specialist Technician must perform duties under Bio-safety Level 2 requirements. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, and have knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be able to work some holidays/weekends, and push/pull heavy equipment and lift 50 pounds. Vaccinations and TB testing will be required.
The candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with animals and be able to demonstrate the ability to handle and restrain a variety of animal species. Previous exposure to animals and animal care - farm or pet shop or zoo worker experience a plus. ALAT certification a plus
