Position Overview

Join our growing User Experience team and help design the future of banking and retail user interfaces! As a UI Designer, you will design and deliver high-quality user interface designs, create rapid iterations of visual concepts, and design and maintain user interface face patterns as part of a design system. Additionally, you'll partner with UX designers and researchers to create high fidelity prototypes for UX research testing.

You'll determine how consumers will engage with our digital products, including responsive web and mobile applications, and ensure products look and operate as intended for all customers and users. You will work closely with UX Designers, UX Researchers, Product Management, Product Development, and teams across the organization to conceptualize, design, and deliver a constantly evolving signature user experience that supports our mission to drive long-term customer loyalty and exponential revenue growth.

You are responsible for


  • UI and visual design for B2B and B2C Software banking and retail applications
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in UI design by exhibiting highly skilled techniques and deep understanding of best practices with motion, iconography, typography, color, space and all aspects of the visual execution of Diebold Nixdorf's digital experiences
  • Collaborating with all designers and cross-functional partners to lead the creation, iteration, and development of all design aspects of our design system including digital style guides and pattern libraries
  • Producing product sketches, wireframes, visual designs, mockups, conceptual designs and layouts for user-facing functionality
  • Ensuring a consistent design and user experience across different channels and devices
  • Designing UI comps that reflect sound UX thinking using traditional visual design principles and tools (visual hierarchy, composition, typography, color theory, etc.)
  • Contributing to the creation of new design systems and applying a deep knowledge in UI systems design to develop and own the documentation framework for all pieces of the design system (i.e. components and patterns), turn designs into symbols within Sketch, and manage versioning of the design system
  • Continually auditing elements of the design system to ensure they meet consistency and design standards; working with UX research to evaluate designs and incorporate findings by applying a test and learn approach
  • Educating other teams, including Product Development and Professional Services, to advocate for the design system and training new users on the design system
  • Possessing a deep POV on craft, tools and process
  • Applying best practices for human-centric design to common visual and usability challenges
  • Discerning and consolidating visual design feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Working closely with UX designers and internal user researchers to support usability and focus group test plans and prototype support (paper or interactive prototypes, as appropriate)

Qualifications:


  • Must have Adobe XB experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • 5 years of visual and interaction design plus prototyping experience
  • Experience leading the creation of digital platforms, digital style guides, and UI pattern libraries
  • Industry leading portfolio showcasing design skills that demonstrate critical thought process, digital cross-platform experience, and how UI design adds business value
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite/Sketch/InVision skills with the latest design/production tools and a demonstrated ability evaluating future tools for team productivity
  • Strong conceptual and visual thinker with a broad toolset for communicating complex ideas
  • Deep understanding, proficiency, and ability to complete various design tasks, including design guidelines, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility standards, and optimization techniques
  • Self-starter with excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of web and mobile-based technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc
