We are currently seeking a talented candidate to fill an Associate Scientist II position within Alnylam's Research department. The successful candidate will support development of current therapeutic programs the rare disease and metabolic space as part of a multidisciplinary team and be involved in the discovery of RNAi compounds for a variety of novel indications and support their entry into the clinic. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences and be technically skilled in protein/mRNA analysis. Experience or willingness to learn in vivo rodent techniques is also required. Passion for science, attention to detail and a desire to learn new techniques are a must.

Summary of Key Responsibilities


  • Execute studies to explore and characterize molecules for RNAi therapeutic programs
  • Conduct assays that support in vivo studies, such as qPCR and ELISA
  • Perform in vivo procedures, including administration of therapeutics via established methodologies
  • Perform in vitro and cell-based assays to further characterize drug activity
  • Analyze and interpret the data
  • Prepare clearly articulated experimental reports and data presentations
  • Prepare of SOPs/protocols
  • Present data to groups within and outside of Research

Qualifications


  • B.S/M.S. degree in a biological discipline such as Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Genetics
  • 1-3 years of post-degree research experience in an industrial or academic setting
  • Experience in RNA/DNA/protein analysis techniques, including ELISA and qPCR
  • Basic rodent in vivo skills: animal handling, subcutaneous/intravenous dosing, blood collection, and necropsy/dissection expertise
  • Cell/tissue culture and flow cytometry are a plus
  • Ability to perform assays independently and troubleshoot assays with direction of supervisor(s)/project leader(s)
  • Demonstrate keen knowledge of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to rigorously and independently analyze results, propose future directions and generate clear reports
  • Must be flexible, open to new tasks and challenges and able to work on tight deadlines
  • Capacity to multi-task
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Good team player attributes; strong interpersonal skills
