ABOUT THE NEST

At bluebird, only two things matter - patients and our people. When you join the nest, you're not just landing a new gig, you become a part of a flock that's soaring to new heights. We're 1100+ doers, thinkers and collaborators across the globe with a strong sense of our values and our purpose. Our innovation and sustainability are rooted in the diversity of our teams and results are achieved through cooperation and the incorporation of multiple points of view. This is personal and we approach every challenge with radical care. The time is now to rise up and recode the science, the systems, and the status quo.

 ABOUT THE FLOCK

The US Commercial flock is all about making a profound impact on people living with rare diseases through teamwork, strategic conviction, operational focus, and individual accountability to the mission of establishing gene therapy as a meaningful option for patients.  We fly straight into the storm, challenging conventions and recoding systems where necessary to enable that impact.  Whether it's establishing a new reimbursement and payment model, creating a new expert treatment network for patients, or working our feathers off to ensure physicians have the information they need to support patients, we are driven by a collective purpose to create a better day - a bluebird day - for every patient that we serve.   This is not your typical cookie-cutter commercial build - we require leaders that are unafraid to challenge the norm and be creative.  Come work with a kickass group of birds that are committed to be the change that we want to see in the world....and have some fun together along the way.

HOW YOU'LL FLY

As a Sales Leader bird, reporting to the head of the US business, you'll help to bring more patients their bluebird days by:

  • Building bluebird bio's first US Sales Operation including the design, deployment, and ongoing development of people, processes, programs, and systems that work together with omni-channel support to drive demand and enable appropriate patients to consider our gene therapies

  • Driving accountability to performance targets and ensuring we show up in front of stakeholders in a manner consistent with bluebird bio values

  • Leading a team of experts to establish a best-in-class Qualified Treatment Center Network and customer experience

  • Challenging and inspiring your organization and your cross-functional peers to push through barriers and to create one mission-focused team that is greater than the sum of its parts

  • Advancing and deepening relationships with key opinion leaders, hospital administrators, and other relevant external stakeholders that are essential partners in creating opportunity for patients

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

You're the bird we're looking for if you:

  • Have a BS with 15+ years in the biopharma industry demonstrating broad commercial experience

  • Are deeply experienced with demonstrated success in scaling, managing, and leading Sales teams in rare disease segments requiring complex account & delivery network business management

  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to influence across functional domains and to negotiate through disagreement to create a constructive outcome

  • Thrive in white space and be energized by the opportunity to lead through ambiguity and change

All our birds embrace the principles of the bluebird bio culture:  b colorful, b cooperative, b yourself.

bluebird bio is deeply committed to fostering an environment where diversity and inclusion are not only valued, but prioritized. We believe a diverse and inclusive community empowers us to act courageously, care deeply, and dream boldly to impact people in big ways.  Diverse viewpoints bring diverse capabilities which strengthen our focus and fuel our growth.

bluebird is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.  All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status or any other applicable legally protected characteristics.
