GLOBAL HEAD OF TAX AUDITS, CONTROVERSY, GLOBAL TAX TEAM (Bergen County, NJ)

New opening for Tax Senior Director/ Director reporting to the VP Tax to manage Global Tax Audits and Controversy for US-based multinational. 

Company is headquartered in Bergen County, NJ, and is a member of the Fortune 200 (May 2018), Member of NASDAQ 100 and S&P 500.

The Director (or Senior Director) of Tax Controversy will be responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of federal, state, and foreign tax controversy issues. This individual should have significant experience with US Corporate Tax matters, transfer pricing principles and indirect tax law. The candidate should also possess historical success with negotiating a wide range of corporate tax issues and audit procedural matters.

Key Responsibilities include:


  • Coordinate income tax audits with local tax or controller’s teams and respond in a consistent manner.

  • Coordinate indirect (sales, value added and goods and service tax) tax audits with local t indirect tax teams and respond in a consistent manner.

  • Implement global tax audit and response database.

  • Review transfer-pricing studies as prepared by transfer pricing team. Reply to transfer pricing audits or inquiries as needed.

  • Work with tax M&A team on acquired companies, review uncertain tax positions with tax accounting team and implement post acquisition mitigation measures.

  • Work with TP team on APA reporting process and review for consistency in tax audits.

  • Daft memorandum for audit positions and related financial statement impact.

  • Provide strategic consult to local tax teams and senior members of tax team.

  • Coordinates tax hearings appeals with outside advisors.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • CPA, JD, or Master of Taxation degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a corporate tax function with prior experience with major public accounting or law firm.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs, specifically Excel.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle software used for general ledger (Hyperion Financial Manager and PeopleSoft).

  • Strong managerial skills, with a hands-on approach.

  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
