As an Electrical Engineer/Hardware Development Specialist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Contributing to the technology roadmap and strategic plan for digital systems technologies and hardware/software platforms.


• Leading the design and development of state-of-the-art hardware products for use in the Food Safety market globally.


• Leading development projects with a combination of internal, third-party and offshore development teams.


• Resolving design issues associated with continuing engineering support and manufacturing.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking (at a minimum) for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Five (5) years of hardware electrical engineering development experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution


• Eight (8) years of experience developing electrical hardware systems


• Ability to design and optimize system level and circuit board hardware design with digital, analog, and mixed signals including optical systems, LED and other illumination techniques, and image capture technology


• Experience with Image Analysis and Image Processing


• Experience developing commercial laboratory equipment, including sophisticated electro-optical systems and/or solutions; working with product management, trainers, customers and end users in regulated industry


• Established track record of working in all stages of global product development from prototype to successful commercial product launch

Travel:  May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance:  Is authorized

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
