We are looking for a full-time Software Java/Data Engineer for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area.  In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to data development and operational stability of the Big Data ecosystems.  Other essential functions include:


  • Strong Java skills and Spring experience

  • Basic server design and debugging experience

  • Ability to turn feature requests into technical designs

  • Build and architect big data architecture in software development cycle

  • Ability to write scripts as needed to interact with big data clusters

  • Develop cloud-like self-service solutions

  • Learn new data technologies and practices

  • Identify and resolve problems proactively

  • Analyze existing data solutions and recommend improvements

  • Thoroughly document work in an organized manner

  • Communicate in written and verbal form effectively

The technologies worked on constantly evolve but currently include mySQL, SqlServer, Oracle, Cassandra, HDP, Kafka, PCF

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or another technology-related field AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience PLUS a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0. Other qualifications include:


  • Experience in Java/scripting development, Big data solutions and database administration

  • Experience with no-sql solutions such as Cassandra, Mongo, Gemfire

  • Experience with any relational database system, such as (but not limited to) MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL

  • Advanced Windows or Linux Administration skills

  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task independently in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment

  • Demonstrated ability to learn basic technical concepts independently
