Requisition Summary


This position will work as a team with the current Server Administrator to support the High Performance Computing Cluster. The primary function of the position is to oversee the daily performance, repair tickets, and updates to the system. The secondary function of the position is to work with the IT Team to provide Windows Server assistance in order to support the PTC network as a whole. This will include training team members, computer repairs and other related server tasks.

Division Information


The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities



  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining large compute clusters/servers and software

  • Day-to-day operations of the systems including systems administration, monitoring and storage performance up to and including network components.

  • Management of the HPC software stack and tools.

  • Configuration of the scheduling and queuing system.

  • Diagnosing and resolving system operational problems quickly and effectively. Coordinating with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Assist users with access and other help desk ticket requests or issues.

  • Use scripting/programming skills to enable system-level automation, problem detection, security maintenance and patch management.

  • Building and deploying open source software and software from vendors/partners.

  • Providing reliable and efficient backups/restores for all managed systems.

  • Documenting system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.

  • Maintaining and monitoring the security of the HPC systems and Windows servers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications & Skills 


  • Experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining job management tools (such as SLURM, Moab, TORQUE, Bright, etc.) required.

  • Experience supporting HPC compilers and libraries preferred.

  • 0-1 years scripting and automation experience

  • 2-4 years Linux & Windows server administration experience

  • Direct experience working with Infiniband (must at least be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Infiniband concepts, sub-net managers) required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills


  • Experience configuring, installing and troubleshooting Star-CCM+, HEEDs and Matlab preferred.

  • Experience with operating system deployment tools preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with distributed file system.

  • Experience configuring, installing, tuning and maintaining scientific application software on enterprise systems preferred.

  • Experience configuring, installing, maintaining and/or using performance monitoring and optimization tools preferred.

  • Experience with cloud bursting with AWS. preferred

Education


Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
