We are searching for a Lab Specialist to join our Pathology team in a full-time, day shift position.
The Pathology Laboratory Specialist is responsible for specific departmental duties including specimen preparation, delivery, and accessioning; communicating with other departments within the hospital regarding correct specimen ordering and correction of incorrectly ordered tests.
What else would you do in this role:
- You will coordinate with doctors and nurses regarding results, specialty testing, and continuation of care at other facilities.
- You will assist pathologists with consultation send-outs, navigating specialty testing menus, and directing appropriate calls to their offices.
- You will provide additional assistance for special specimen requests from physicians within the hospital to ensure adequate patient care; daily workload assistance.
- You will have recordkeeping, inventory control, preventive maintenance, quality control and clerical responsibilities.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of Laboratory experience preferred
- Associates degree required.
- Familiarity with a hospital laboratory is desired. Medical terminology preferred.
- Pathology experience preferred.
