Job Description:
PURPOSE:
Manages activities related to process improvement initiatives plus development and implementation of Continuous Improvement strategies in a manufacturing setting. Facilitate and execute Greif's Industrial Products Group World Class Safety, Quality, and Operational Excellence vision implementation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Versatile business unit specialist covering various responsibilities from coaching to Greif's playbook implementation and strategy development
Studies Business Unit processes and operations; develops quality and efficiency improvements
Conducts organizational root cause analysis to determine inefficiencies or risk weakness
Collaborates with operational and commercial leadership to identify and select processes or projects for inclusion in the organization's continuous improvement strategy initiatives
Establishes key performance indicators for functions being reviewed; evaluates current state, and proposes future state goals and objectives, assists in implementation
Develops and monitors implementation of process changes meant to result in: cost or waste reduction, quality or productivity improvement, customer satisfaction, or profitability increases
Oversees process change implementation and tracks progress towards efficiency or quality goals
Oversees the work of a team that evaluates existing processes and identifies opportunities for quality or efficiency improvement
Tracks progress against established goals; project management
Coach lean tools and root cause problem solving at various levels of the organization
Share best practice with teams; comfortable leading Kaizen events
Guides business unit functions to improve operational metrics and plant P&L
Track and report plant OpEx project progress; drive project implementation to completion
Comprehensive knowledge of the Business Unit policies, procedures, and practices
Performs other tasks as assigned including (but not limited to) OpEx, Quality, and R&D
Ensures a safe and healthy workplace producing high quality products
Comply in all respects with the Greif Standards of Business Conduct Policy provisions.
Perform all required duties and tasks in accordance with Greif policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in: Business, Operational Management, Industrial Engineering or other Engineering disciplines
6+ years professional work experience in manufacturing/production environment with preference in paper manufacturing or paper converting industry
Takes on the most complex organizational unique tasks
May have some impact on budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change
May require Lean, Six Sigma, Quality or other related certification
Must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills; willingness to mentor others
Experience training and coaching others in problem solving methodologies
Must have strong project management and interpersonal soft skills
Must have proven ability of creating and executing professional presentations using facts and data
Experience in Lean methodology preferred (SPC, DOE, SMED...)
Proficient with SharePoint and Microsoft Excel/Power Point, and statistical analysis software (Minitab), preferred
Travel is required 70-80%. Schedule varies, but typically depart Monday mornings and return Thursday early evening.
