Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Planning Department Manager and Project Manager to join and lead our Integrated Planning Department in our Atlanta, GA office.

The Planning Department Manager will lead a wide range of transportation planning projects and manage an innovative, collaborative, and growing group of planners. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the national Planning, Design and Engineering department, working with senior partners and be responsible for all aspects of consulting - strategy, marketing, proposal development, project delivery and client relations.

The Planning Department Manager will be creative, resourceful and have strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will also be willing to "wear many hats", be flexible to lead a variety of simultaneous tasks / projects, as well as understand planning as an essential first step towards implementable transportation projects.

Responsibilities as Planning Department Manager / Project Manager include but are not limited to:


  • Lead the Integrated Transportation Planning Practice within Arcadis' PD&E department and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver planning projects in Georgia and Nationwide
  • Have a thorough understanding of multimodal corridor planning, regional planning and knows how to identify and message economic benefits of transportation projects
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Identify pursuit opportunities and develop pursuit strategy to grow planning practice

  • Demonstrate experience with multimodal (transit, roadway, bike/ped and/or ports) planning for multi-discipline projects with high degrees of technical complexity and managing multidisciplinary project teams
  • Work in a high-pace environment with the flexibility to work on multiple projects
  • Possess effective project management and task management skills
  • Offer creative problem solving and be willing to explore emerging client problems

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, City Planning, Transportation, Economics, Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience required, including working with Transit Agencies or Departments of Transportation (GDOT Office of Planning) clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold AICP Certification or ability to secure Certification within first year of employment
  • Master's degree in Planning, City Planning, Transportation, Engineering or a related field
