JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager, Corporate Accounting, oversees the Airgas Corporate Accounting Group and works closely with Financial Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Treasury, and other corporate departments. This role will have direct responsibility for the corporate general ledger, including but not limited to the monthly corporate accounting close process, flow reporting for key balance sheet accounts, monthly analytical review, cost center accounting, and communication of the financial results related to these Corporate activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate the corporate accounting close process and communicate the financial results related to these corporate activities across the Airgas organization.
Own key corporate accounting areas such as cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany, and coordinate with business units as needed.
Oversee preparation of periodic reconciliations and analysis for corporate general ledger and intercompany accounts.
Partner with corporate department heads to develop, review, and publish cost center budgets and periodic reporting.
Perform month end financial statement review and variance analysis vs. prior period and forecast.
Ensure accounting activities are in accordance with company accounting policies and control framework.
Implement and maintain new accounting policies and procedures related to corporate areas.
Interact with external auditors to facilitate quarterly and year-end audit procedures.
Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning.
Work with management to recommend and implement best practice solutions, which enhance the internal control environment and operational efficiency.
Assist Financial Reporting team with periodic reporting activities for key areas of responsibility.
Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.
COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP; experience with IFRS is a plus
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Google Suite platform experience a plus
ERP general ledger system experience; SAP preferred, but not required
Strong organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
Able to operate at a detailed level without losing sight of the big picture
Action oriented; thrives in a dynamic environment; willing to take the initiative when the opportunity presents itself
Analytical thinker, with a strong background in accounting processes and data flows
Flexible/team player; comfortable changing directions mid-stream; understands the importance of achieving team objectives
Ability to identify and implement process improvement and control enhancement opportunities.
Understands the responsibility of handling sensitive, confidential information.
REQUIREMENTS:
Four year accounting degree from an accredited college or university
Five to ten years of progressively responsible accounting experience
Public accounting experience is a plus
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus
