Summary
This role is responsible for ensuring proper functioning of plant equipment and machinery, detecting and diagnosing problems, repairing and replacing parts to maintain optimal plant production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job
Ability to identify any associated risks and how to implement appropriate controls
Monitor work area and surroundings during task completion and machinery operation
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines following diagrams, sketches, operations, manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening and watching for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoist, cranes and hand power tools
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using required tools
Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques
Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders
Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Maintain continuity with management by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair all machine systems
Must be able to proficiently weld (horizontal and vertical) and cut with a torch
Demonstrate safe and proper application of hand, pneumatic, and electric tools
Demonstrate proper lockout tag-out procedures
Demonstrate safe lifting, rigging, and blocking techniques
Run all manlifts, forklifts and any other equipment to full capacity
Maintain operator logs, forms and records in accordance with company policy regulations
Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor
Safely maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition
Ability to be self-motivated
Requirements / Education / Experience
High school diploma / equivalent or completion of technical school or equivalent in training, experience and education
Strict adherence to the policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook, must be knowledgeable of OSHA safety requirements
Basic computer Skills
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, push or pull up to 60lbs
Requires often climbing, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, and twisting
Able to use tools and equipment to repair and provide maintenance while standing, crouching, stretching, extending extremities and under extreme work environments
