DBA Admin at Cognizant in New York, New York

Job Description:

We are looking for DBA Admin for an immediate need. This is a client-facing role & the candidate will have regular interactions with various client managers.

Required Skills:

DB Admin

5 to 7 Years Perform mainframe database software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support customer DB2 environments

Experience as a DB2 on zOS Database Administrator

Should have working knowledge of DB2 Internals fundaments installations and operations Adequate knowledge of DB2 Data Sharing in Parallel Sysplex environment

Knowledge of Systems Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning with understanding of security interface with DB2 Experience with SMPE and UserMods

RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience with installation and using DB2 tools ISV Products

Knowledge of interfacing with and installing OEM vendor tools

Disaster Recovery Planning and support Proficiency in DB2 Systems Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning Proficiency in application related performance and tuning access path analysis including extensive SQL coding tuning

Proficiency in the use of DB2 monitoring tools Logical and physical database design skills

Knowledge of CA and IBM tools for DB2 is a plusFor physical DBAs extensive experience with the following

Knowledge in best practices of software management maintenance and documentation

Configuration and management of DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment

Development of innovative strategies process and best practices in software management

Establishment of policies and procedures pertaining to database management DR security maintenance and utilization

Review of new versions of DB2 in regard to functionality ability to advise clients on how they will benefit from the new functionality

Evaluation of change requests and determination of impact to assigned clientsSupervision and development of opportunities for associates
