The Data Center Technician provides hands-on, day-to-day support for all hardware related installs and moves in the St. Louis data center. The scope of this position currently includes but is not limited to support and monitoring for all hardware and facility systems located within the Data Center.

Position will include working evening and/or weekend hours as well as non-standard shift configurations that can include night shift

Basic Responsibilities and Objectives Include:


  • Install server cabinets, rack & cable devices within cabinet as required
  • Maintain cable/LAN layout for data center
  • Maintain inventory of all hardware as well as change management documentation
  • Provide support to IT operation personnel while troubleshooting operational issues
  • Assist with shipping/receiving of computer hardware to and from data center
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up to date documentation for all the equipment in the Data Center
  • Monitor and report on data center environmental, fire suppression, and UPS systems
  • Escort all visitors needing access to data center, maintain Visitor Access Log

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Qualifications:

    Individuals must be able to perform each basic responsibility satisfactorily and meet education and experience requirements.

    Education and Experience:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • 2 year degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field, or one year of work experience in an IT environment
  • Experience at installing, configuring and managing servers is preferred
  • Experience at installing fiber and copper cable systems is preferred
  • Experience working in a server room or data center is preferred
  • Experience working with ServiceNow and/or DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools or similar systems is a plus
  • Strong desire and ability to learn; possess excellent problems solving skills
  • Solid understanding of basic server concepts, preferably with proven experience
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work in both a team environment and individually
  • Detail Oriented and proficient at Task Management
  • Must be capable of lifting and transporting computer related hardware up to 40 pounds
