The 1,000 plus room Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is expected to open early 2021 and will be a one-of-a-kind, two-tower, luxury property. The new hotel, located at 450 Summer Street in South Boston’s Seaport District, will feature a signature spa and fitness center, event terrace, elevated pool deck, multiple dining establishments, bar and a variety of retail venues. It will boast more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space and feature the largest hotel ballroom in Boston.

Job Description

Omni Boston at the Seaport Hotel is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to join the pre-opening team of this brand new upscale hotel in downtown Boston.  This team member will provide technical and administrative assistance to the Director of Engineering Services and to assist the Director of Engineering Services in the operational aspect of the Engineering Department for this 1,001 room convention hotel.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our founding team as the Omni Boston at the Seaport prepares for its inaugeral opening in Summer 2021!  

Responsibilities

    Assist the Director of Engineering Services in the full upkeep of the preventative maintenance, including the keeping of logs on work done, scheduling and the assignment of projects and other related tasks.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering Services in the procurement of supplies and the issuance of purchase orders.

  • Review work orders and assign work by priorities.

  • Maintain up-to-date inventories of heat, light & power and repair and maintenance supplies.

  • Respond to guest requests.

  • Work with the Engineering staff on a shift basis and coordinates their activities.

  • Assume the full responsibility for the Engineering Department in the absence of the Director of Engineering Services.

  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency evacuation.

  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni's job scenarios.

  • Must be familiar with Omni's Systems and Services procedures.

Qualifications


  • Must have extensive HVAC and mechanical experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays. 

  • Union experience preferred.

  • 3-5 years of luxury hotel engineering experience preferred.

  • Previous experience at a convention service hotel preferred.

  • Experience managing a crew of 5 or more required.

  • Ability to work in the interior and exterior of the hotel as needed.



  • Must be able to maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.
