Job Summary

 

 

The Tooling Engineer will provide Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Responsible for the development of tooling solutions to complex problems.

•    The implementation of tooling, from original concept through to production. Design this tooling for high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.

•    Accountable for tooling input for new product quotes, tooling configuration changes and design implementation.

•    Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.

•    Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.

•    Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production. 

•    Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.

•    Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers

 

Required Qualifications:

 

•    Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or in lieu of degree 8+ years combination of education and experience.

•    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Tooling Engineering, preferably in aerospace

•    Due to export compliance, must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

•    GKN experience preferred

•    Design of  fabrication, machining, welding and assembly tooling experience preferred

•    Aerospace experience is strongly preferred

•    Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques (Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA and /or Fishbone diagrams)

•    Ability to read, write and comprehend blueprints, ASME Y14.5

•    Working knowledge of test equipment and inspection equipment

•    CAD and or various computer systems, NX preferred

•    Ability to communicate clearly and concisely    

•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
