Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive Sales support to Proterra’s President, Proterra Powered and Energy and other leadership team members.  You will be responsible for managing the sales division while making major organizational impacts and establishing overall direction and strategic initiatives for this business function as well as being accountable for the Proterra sales pipeline for Proterra Powered Products. The primary responsibility of this role is demand creation for Proterra Powered Battery and Drivetrain systems.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities


  • Plans and directs all aspects of the organizations sales policies, objectives and initiatives.

  • Directs the demand generation and sales pipeline of Proterra Powered’s products and service on a worldwide basis.

  • Directs planning, forecasting, marketing program development, partner relationship creation and collateral material development.

  • Establishes short- and long-term sales goals and quotas in line with the company’s objectives.

  • Identifies key marketing outlets and competitive strategies together with the Business Development lead that will enable achievement of maximum sales volume.

  • Oversees sales pipeline against corporate goals to ensure that sales targets are met. Develops the company’s long-range sales strategy and forecasts sales volumes.

  • This position will be part of the Sales team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations.

  • You will report to the President, Proterra Powered and Energy and collaborate with other Sales team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Supply Chain Management (or other related fields) or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in leadership roles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the overall department functions.

  • Proven ability to have success impacting the company’s success in a sales oriented role.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Travel: 50-75%
