Layout Operator at NORTHWEST PIPE COMPANY in Tracy, California

Job Description:

Layout Operator will position, rework, fit and weld according to instructions, blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications and knowledge of characteristics of metal. Selects equipment and plan layout, fabrication, assembly and welding.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Layout, position, align and fit components together using applicable machines, tools and equipment.

·       Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for final welding

·       Set up and weld parts using welding equipment

·       Use hand tools and be able to correctly setup and operate applicable shop machines

·       Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

·       Ability to read blueprints

·       Ability to pass a 3/8” bend-welding test

·       Be able to make measurements using tape measures, rulers, and protractors

·       Ability to Be able to climb a ladder and work on top of a 12’ pipe

·       Ability to lift between 60 to 100 lbs.

·       Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
