Director, Organizational Development is needed for a full-time, staff opportunity with Day & Zimmermann located in Philadelphia, PA.  Partners with key business leaders and HR business partners to design and implement organizational effectiveness and leadership development initiatives to help achieve business strategy including but not limited to organizational development, change management, succession planning, assessments, employee engagement, organizational design, performance management, leader development, competency modeling, workforce planning & team effectiveness.

The Work You'll Be Doing:


  • Internal Consulting. Surface and prioritize organizational, team, and individual development needs to support the achievement of business strategy. With stakeholders, determine mutally agreed upon needs, solutions, roles & responsibilities, outcomes, and metrics of success. Provide feedback to maximize impact of interventions.

  • Solution Design. Design systemic and individual interventions to meet objectives, including determine scope, select cost effective solutions, leverage traditional and innovative strategies, and create supplemental materials to support the initiative. Potential solutions include, but are not limited to, creating and implementing plans to support change initiatives, optimizing or recommending new organizational structures, deploying new processes and systems, conducting team alignment sessions, creating workforce plans, etc.

  • Facilitation. Facilitate systemic and individual development through the implementation of plans, programs, projects, consultation, etc.

  • Evaluation. Determine how well solutions met the need and overall objectives. Provide feedback and recommendations to promote sustainability of gains. Analyze trends via data from the various talent management systems.

  • Project Management. Plan, organize, and manage resources and vendors to support project objectives. Manage potential constraints such as time, scope and budget as required.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:


  • Bachelors degree in HR, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology or related field. Advanced degree in I/O Psychology, OD or related preferred.

  • Minimum of 6-8 years in performing consulting in similar size company (preferably in a related industry). Management experience is a plus.

  • PHR/SPHR or graduate certificate in Organizational Development preferred. 

  • Excellent design, development, management, facilitation and diagnostic skills. Experience uncovering systemic issues, designing and implementing interventions using various techniques and strategies.

  • Strong ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders through credibility and by actively offering insight.

  • Ability to partner with the leaders to deliver solutions that meet business needs through understanding the business, the broader operating context, and putting it together to determine with business leaders where to focus resources.

  • Strong working knowledge of organizational design, development, and change theories and practice.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and platform speaking skills).
