You ensure that customer plans are developed and executed by supporting the delivery of strategies and tactics for growth. You understand the business metrics and financial drivers needed to unlock profitable growth for Mondelēz International and our customers and work with key account managers to implement plans to deliver our annual target.

How you will contribute

The Sr. CA will have access to industry leading resources, tools, and where available, customer-specific information (e.g. loyalty card data) that will enable this person to make strategic recommendations and impact decision making.  This person will have the ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity in the development of category growth opportunity recommendations and selling stories for key business initiatives, and through well-developed analytical capabilities and an understanding of shopper behavior/dynamics, the Sr. CA will have direct impact on Mondelez’s categories and customers. 

This role will both challenge and hone influencing, negotiating, and analytical skills.  Plus, the Sr. Category Advisor may also have opportunity and responsibility to lead, manage, and develop other direct or indirect reports.  By displaying sustained performance results and learning agility, the Sr. Category Advisor can pursue roles of increased responsibility within the Customer Insights organization such as Category Strategist, traditional Sales roles like Customer Category Manager and Customer Business Lead, or any number of other career opportunities within Mondelēz International.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead shopper-focused business analysis, insight discovery, and strategy development to support Customer and Mondelez International business objectives

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of customer priorities, strategies, and tactics and the buying dynamics and motivations of their shoppers

  • Proactively uncover, review, and analyze existing consumer and shopper research to identify and apply learnings to unmet business challenges

  • Stay abreast of retail industry trends, competitive CPG trends, and broader consumer trends that can impact category dynamics and performance

  • Utilize multitude of available resources to glean insights and translate them to meaningful implications and actions

  • Play leadership role in conducting category reviews, analyzing business issues, and providing business insights and recommendations to improve business results

  • Lead, coach, develop, and manage performance of others either directly or indirectly

Key Qualifications:


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree - Social Science, Business Administration or Marketing is preferred.

  • Master’s Degree is a STRONG plus

  • Minimum 10 years working experience in CPG with either a manufacturer, retailer or agency.

  • Worked within at least 2 (ideally 3) Customer/Retailer Teams and contributed to / shared responsibility for meeting the Team’s volume targets.

  • Strong experience with shopper insights being heavily leveraged in a Sales role with a keen focus on ‘What are the Retail Customer’s Strategic Priorities’, how those Priorities are broken into tangible Category Growth Opportunities, and how MDLZ Brands and Shopper driven solutions can advance the Customer’s growth ambitions.

  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders including Sales, Customer Insights, and external agencies.

  • Experience in building compelling Insights stories with clear implications from multi data sources to drive business decisions. Able to develop learning and best practices principles.

  • Familiar with common shopper insights methodologies, including ethnographies, shopalongs, surveys, etc.

  • Strong problem-solving capability, i.e., identify what’s the problem to solve before executing

  • Strong quantitative analysis (syndicated data knowledge) and custom research experience.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) & Tableau with a heavy focus on storytelling

  • Familiarity with Space Management tools like JDA (proficiency a plus)

  • Experience leading/facilitating collaborative brainstorming sessions is a strong plus.

  • Solid organization, project management, time management, and planning skills.

  • Strong written / oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced work place with a focus on achieving work/life balance.

  • People management experience and skills.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical skillset, and creative infusion

  • Presenting to senior stake holders internally and with Retail Customers

  • Ability to comprehend shelf management concepts in the context of category management
