Our firm's tax practice seeks an experienced operations leader with strong technology and process experience to join our team as a Tax Operations Director. In this position you are responsible for the daily management of other members of the tax operations team, the end to end tax compliance workflow processes, and the technology solutions used in the tax department.
The preferred location for this position is our New York office. However, this position can take place in any of our U.S. office locations.

Professional Responsibilities:
Serve as a key member of the Tax Operations Team to evaluate and help transform our tax compliance workflow through process improvement, technology, risk management and organizational design.
Provide a review, mapping and assessment of internal processes regarding staffing, scheduling, hiring and retention of tax professionals.
Be the tax department's liaison with the Operational Service Groups (OSGs) such as Marketing, Human Resources, Internal Accounting, Legal and Talent Management.
Actively participate in the performance evaluation process for tax professionals and tax administrative professionals.
Oversee resource allocation among the different practice offices and tax sectors to ensure balanced and efficient workflow, including analyzing utilization and making recommendations to Tax Leadership with respect to FTE management.
Develop, implement, manage and evolve all operational templates necessary to facilitate activity and both capture and relay data (i.e. engagement assignment transmittal forms, job description templates) to appropriate end users.
Manage resource dashboard to ensure we have all pertinent information available to monitor existing resources in the Tax Practice, including the Mazars Delivery Center (MDC) and other offshore resources, updated to reflect all movement timely.
Use of XCM Analytics to assist in developing goals and internal deadlines for deliverables.
Develop best practices for continuous improvement in use of XCM by partners and professional staff to effectively move deliverables through workflow processing.
Facilitate and assist with Talent Acquisition process, initiate the request for new requisition orders, organize & facilitate new search intake meetings.
Organize and facilitate weekly touch-base and follow-up meetings on any details or action items that result.
Coordinate with Learning & Development (L&D) Tax Provost in the execution of L&D tax programs and training.
Produce, analyze, and distribute Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting related to the tax practice by office, level and/or sector.
Develop and suggest modifications to leverage model, assignments, etc., as applicable, to gain efficiencies and enhanced measurable performance.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a Business related field of study
5-7 years of relevant work experience in a project management, resource management or operations management environment
Prior work experience in a CPA firm, a professional services firm or a tax consulting practice is preferred
Experience navigating in an environment with matrix reporting and solving complex issues is required
Ability to manage multiple executive level professionals with diverse management styles, strengths and personalities required
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite tools
Working knowledge of cloud-based platform tools (Sharepoint, OneDrive) preferred
Working knowledge of various tax applications including Axcess, XCM (Workflow and Scheduler), SurePrep and SafeSend returns
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written)
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to work extra hours during peak times as required
