If you are a Mechanical Technician looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will perform daily laboratory tasks to complete engineering project assignments. Your focus will be on improving and maintaining existing processes as well as assisting in the implementation of new models and equipment. You will effectively communicate the status of project assignments to co-workers, management and engineers. You will use good judgment to manage risk and solve problems. You will be expected to comply with all Emerson Corporate and Lab Safety Standards, including EPA regulations. You will support and perform all positions in the Cost Center which include but not limited to: Plant Internal Inspections, Customer Line Return Inspections, effectively operate Gas Cycle, Calorimeter, and Break-In Stands.  You will perform maintenance and troubleshoot lab equipment, effectively communicate technical information to various groups including but not limited to; co-workers, engineers, management and quality personnel. You will also be involved in Safety+5S, & other Perfect Execution Practices. Accurate use of electronic data collection and communicative systems.

AS A MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL: 


  • Adhere to all corporate and laboratory safety standards and poliices, including all EPA regulations

  • Maintain and upkeep test stands and lab facilities

  • Operate laboratory test equipment including but not limited to:

  • Work with durability test stands, data acquisition, variable speed drives, PLC Controls, and electrical measuring devices

  • Communicate technical information related to project statuses to engineers

  • Accurately document test results

  • Set up and install compressors and supporting electronics for test purposes

  • Fabricate supporting test fixtures and controls required for non-standard tests

  • Meet the physical demands of the role which include manipulation of average to heavy weights (weight range up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods of time, use of hand tools, cutting and brazing equipment

  • Work with verbatim compliance with refrigerant handling procedures.

  • Demonstrate conscientious and ambitious behavior.

  • Follow laboratory test instructions to performance test compressors.

  • Work in a team environment and individually.

  • Comply with ISO Standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Associates Degree in HVAC/R or equivalent field plus one (1) year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Good communication skills

  • Basic mechanical skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Basic understanding of Lean practices

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  


  • Associates Degree in HVAC/R or equivalent field plus three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Good troubleshooting & problem solving skills

  • Good computer skills

  • Understanding of Lean Principles and their uses
