Responsibilities
Dematic has an immediate opening for a Strategic Buyer (Procurement Specialist - Direct) to join our winning team in Holland, MI. This role is critical in supporting strategic purchasing activities as they relate to our manufacturing needs in this facility.
Position Summary:
The primary functions of the Procurement Specialist will be:
Procurement categories may include any type of MHE (Material Handling Equipment) product. Examples include: Automated Guided Vehicles, Highly complex equipment, structural steel, metal fabricated parts, conveyors, software, Storage Retrieval Machine Components, controls/electrical & electronic components, etc)
Participate and facilitate in new program quote activities involving pricing reviews with cross-functional stakeholder team members.
Assist with information flow from estimating to project purchasing on potential and awarded programs
Make sourcing arrangements and determine optimal quality, lead time and pricing for plant requirements
Negotiations on large potential purchases (coordination with strategic lead buyer)
Develop and coordinate set up of new suppliers (if needed) to support requirements for customers
Execute purchases when required to support sold project activity and manage orders to support project activities.

Performs complex buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials; expedites as needed and serves as liaison between suppliers and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits.
Resolves complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases and invoices.
Updates project plans and purchasing systems; reviews and analyzes requisitions and supply plans for domestic and international purchases.
Negotiates prices, terms and quality requirements; prepares requests for quotes and assists in the development of new supply sources; evaluates market conditions.

Qualifications
Education: BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas

Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
