Overview

Purpose of Job:

Provide engineering and technical expertise that results in rendering of AutoCAD and Visio based drawings in support of client deliverables that accurately depict engineering concepts, facility layouts, or product details.  Perform technical drafting , engineering design support, and limited 3D modeling for pre and post-sales projects for Black Box products and services (Wireless, Infrastructure, UCC, Network, Security, etc).Drawings and renderings will include but not be limited to site plans, equipment layouts, equipment details, elevation views of site/equipment, schematics and grounding details, and 3D mechanical engineering views of products. 

Responsibilities

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

Create and modify detailed schematics and drawings for Black Box products and services (Wireless, Infrastructure, UCC, Network, Security, etc.) using computer aided design systems such as AutoCAD and MS Visio for use by the post-sales deployment engineering team.
• Work closely with engineering, project management office and drafters regarding model accuracy, design completeness & accuracy, adherence to drafting standards and thorough design documentation.


• Perform takeoffs from existing plans to assist in estimating and budgeting. Ensure drafting activities meet corporate client satisfaction objectives as well as internal and external SLAs. 


• Apply document management best practices including quality review of drawings for completeness and accuracy; timely maintenance & filing of all revisions of project drawings; updates and maintenance of drafting logs.


• Proactively assess solution specifications in light of changing customer requirements, and recommend solution changes that optimize value for both the client and BBOX organization.


• Prepare documentation for internal and external clients detailing system designs and configuration of deployed solutions.


• Implement and make recommendations to improve methodologies, core competencies and processes for deployment engineering to ensure stable and quality product & service delivery consistent with company objectives and client expectations.


• Actively and consistently recommend and support all efforts to improve, simplify, automate and enhance day to day service delivery operations and the client experience.


• Achieve performance targets established by leadership for applicable Key Performance Indicators. Utilize escalation and exception paths, processes and systems to report current performance and make recommendations for improvement of performance.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Successful candidate shall possess a firm grasp of engineering concepts and application suites being sought for this skill position. 

Will have interpersonal and communication skills that will enable the individual to work directly with engineers, customers, and other key stakeholders to take concepts and render them to satisfactory end state drawings,

Shall possess organizational skills which will assure configuration management and version control for drawings, renderings, and related artifacts as are necessary for the design process.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Associates' Degree in Computer Aided Design or related field, or equivalent, relevant experience. 3 years of experience in AutoCAD may be substituted for the Degree requirement.


• Minimum of 3 years with AutoCAD drafting in structural, mechanical, architectural, and/or 3D design. Telecommunication/Wireless or Construction industry preferred.


• Ability to read and understand architectural/ engineering drawings and architectural and construction detailing. Ability to manage, organize and layout drawing requirements.


• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to devise creative and practical solutions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Demonstrated success in root cause analysis, effectiveness measurements and related documentation.


• Proven skills in reliability and dependability demonstrated through completing tasks on time and with minimal supervision, punctual and present for work, informing appropriate individuals when work will not be completed in agreed upon time frame.


• Demonstrated experience of continuously expanding and leveraging knowledge of technology, market and industry trends with success in identifying, recommending and implementing best practices and methodologies.


• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, SharePoint, ERP, AutoCAD, MS Visio, service delivery management tools such as ServiceNow and related cloud based technology systems.
