The Systems Engineering Team is looking for an enthusiastic Systems Engineer to join our team and develop the most advanced ddPCR Systems on the planet. Responsibilities

Bio-Rad leads the digital PCR market with digital droplet PCR platform. You will be part of a multidisciplinary R&D team revolutionizing biological research and healthcare by developing new products in our droplet microfluidics portfolio. You will work with engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists to develop integrated chemical and fluidic systems for emulsion based analysis. This work will span from the research stage through product launch.

The successful candidate:

• Applies system engineering principles to develop cost-effective, reliable, high-quality systems that satisfy customer needs and drive business strategies.


• Translates customer and business strategies into engineering design concepts and drives efficient product development with modern design control processes.


• Identifies robust system architectures that are scalable, manufacturable, and serviceable.


• Develops sub-systems for micro-fluidic processing and imaging based on fundamental physics, physical models, and related design approaches.


• Ensures compliance with quality and regulatory requirements by applying design control processes such as risk management, configuration management, requirements management and verification testing.


• Leverages strong communication and interpersonal skills to drive and implement decisions.


• Coordinates with cross-functional project teams to ensure timelines are met and assists the team to balance costs, timeline, and performance.


• Thrives in a multi-disciplinary team and drives our culture by developing trust with senior and junior scientists and engineers.


• Continuously expands their knowledge of state-of-the-art principles, theories, and practices of Systems and Reliability Engineering.

Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering/Chemistry or Equivalent is Required. PhD Highly Desired.


• 6+ yrs Commercial Experience Developing and Sustaining Platforms for Analytical Applications is Required.


• Hands-on Experience Designing Microfluidic Consumables for Commercial Bio-analytical Systems is Required.


• Experience with specifying Pumps, Valves, Sensors, Feedback controls, and Firmware for Microfluidic Applications is Required.


• Working Knowledge of Statistics, DOE, DFSS, and Algorithm Optimization is Desirable.


• CFD and Thermal Modeling with Applications such as COMSOL are Highly Desired.


• Basic Knowledge of Molecular Biology or Biochemistry is Desirable.


• Experience with High Performance Liquid Chromatography and/or Flow Cytometry is Desirable.


• Some Optical Assembly and Troubleshooting Experience for Fluorescent Applications is Desirable.


• Experience with QSR/ISO Regulations, Agency Testing, and Usability Engineering. Experience with Medical Device Development (IVD) is Desirable.
