Scientist II, Cell Biology needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client in Carlsbad, CA.
The Big Picture - Top Skills You Should Possess:
Bachelor\'s degree with 3-5 years of experience in cell biology or a master's degree with 3+ years of experience in cell biology.
Proven experience in cell biology.
Must have cloning, PCR, and cell culture experience.
Local candidate preferred.
What You'll Be Doing:
This scientist will develop tools and techniques to support genome engineering. This scientist will be expected to work in a highly collaborative team environment, supporting some projects with some supervision of a senior scientist and leading some projects independently. Projects may include, but not be limited to, cloning, developing gene editing strategies, and developing assays to monitor editing.
The vast majority of working time will be spent in a laboratory environment. Cell work will take place in biosafety hoods in a tissue culture laboratory, working with various cell cultures. Time may be spent manipulating DNA constructs and proteins in a laboratory environment. Some of the time will be spent at the desk recording laboratory activities appropriately in notebooks.
This role will involve the following tasks:
o Mammalian cell culture.
o DNA delivery and mammalian cell transfection.
o Genomic editing in mammalian cell lines (TALN and CRISPR based editing, design and implementation).
o Flow cytometric analysis.
o Molecular biology.
o Plasmid subcloning, DNA preparations, sequencing, in vitro transcription of RNA, PCR.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
Bachelor\'s degree with 3-5 years of experience in cell biology or a master's degree with 3+ years of experience in cell biology.
Proven experience in cell biology.
Mammalian cell culture.
Lipid-based cell transfection and electroporation.
Cell engineering (CRISPR or TALEN).
Cell-based assays, such as FACS, immunocytochemistry, ELISA, and Western Blotting.
Experience in molecular biology.
DNA cloning and sequencing.
DNA, RNA preparation.
PCR, qPCR assays.
Observe deviations from the expected outcomes and trouble-shoot.
