Our Role:

The Agricultural and Timberland Finance unit of PGIM Real Estate, a subsidiary of Prudential Financial, Inc., with an approximately $5.5 billion agriculture and timberland mortgage portfolio, is one of the leading providers of long-term financing to agricultural and timber landowners in the U.S.  We are actively seeking a Credit Underwriter to join the group’s portfolio management team.  This position will report directly to the group’s Portfolio Manager.

Your Impact:


  • With oversight from the Portfolio Manager, perform credit review of loan originations and servicing actions, including review of credit analysis, pricing, and due diligence documentation, and prepare recommendations to senior management

  • Develop and conduct training initiatives for credit analysts and ensure credit underwriting standards are met throughout loan originations and loan servicing processes

  • Monitor agricultural and timber loan portfolio, including oversight and review of annual credit quality re-ratings and present performance reporting to senior management

  • Manage compliance and reporting requirements including developing and enforcing standard operating procedures, responding to audit inquiries, and handling risk management functions

  • Work with Senior Management and Staff on a wide variety of assignments, including portfolio reporting, industry updates, growth initiatives, and model development

Your Required Skills:


  • B.S. degree in agricultural finance, business, economics or equivalent curriculum required Master's degree in related fields or CFA preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in agricultural or timberland investing with emphasis on analytical work and loan origination

  • Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Strong credit analysis and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an extensive team
