Under direct supervision, the Case Aide will assist in the supervision of all resident activities in compliance to the house rules; perform assigned tasks such as, but not limited to: cleaning, food preparation, medication administration, and maintaining accurate logs and documentation of facility and resident case files. 

The Case Aide will be responsible for answering multiple phone lines and gathering information from callers.  The Case Aide will also be responsible for gathering information, data entry and providing appropriate referrals and/or necessary services as needed to in-house residents as well as callers. 

We are looking for someone who can work full time in day, evening and overnight shifts, including weekends, for our Troy Center for Supportive Living in Spring Valley, California.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, an effective communicator, respectful, has excellent problem-solving and time management skills. The Case Aide must adhere to HIPAA and privacy laws and maintain confidentiality.

About the Facility:

The Troy Center for Supportive Living is a California licensed board and care facility for adults, ages 18-59, who struggle with chronic mental illness and disabling conditions. The 40-bed supportive living program offers individuals shelter and supportive services to adults in San Diego County. We also offer life skills classes and individual session for clients in crisis.

Job Duties:


  • Maintains safety, security and cleanliness standards as outlined by Volunteers of America’s policies and procedures.

  • Performs hourly visual observations of all residents to ensure their safety and well-being and documents hourly in logbook.

  • Answers, screens and documents all incoming telephone calls.

  • Distributes medication (prescription or PRN’s) as directed and records in daily medication logbook.

  • Maintains shared staff work offices and common areas in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Sets up meals and snacks, may serve meals and snacks to residents, and cleans kitchen and dining room including washing dishes, empties trash, wipe down tables and chairs, and mops floors.

  • Reports and records unusual incidents immediately to Program Manager or Mental Health Coordinator regarding resident behavior and fills out incident reports when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to successfully pass criminal record check, fingerprinting, TB test, physical and drug screen prior to hire.

  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certifications and Food Handler's Card.

  • Ability to assess conditions and situations of individuals requesting emergency services.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all residents, family members, and monitoring representatives.

  • Ability to comprehend and implement instructions.

  • Ability to make quick and sound judgement in times of crisis.

  • Ability to recognize and evaluate a resident's need for medical attention.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of phone etiquette and has professional phone demeanor.

  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment.
