Manager, Marketplace Management 

Market Leadership 

As the Manager of Marketplace Management for KAR Global, you will lead a team of Marketplace Managers tasked in increasing the conversion on the marketplace, primarily by working with buyers to close deals. You will also help to create and execute on market growth strategies for industry disrupting technology solutions designed to change the way dealers buy and sell wholesale cars. 

You will be responsible for the overall success of our Buy-side marketplace management efforts across the USA. Additional responsibilities will include helping with Buy-side account management, market growth, and retention. Your team will partner with the Sell-side and Buy-side sales teams by actively working deals on the marketplace to find a middle ground between the buyer and the seller all the while ensuring that our buyers and sellers have a positive experience and ultimately, provide other customer referrals. 

You are: 

  • A Leader. As the head of Marketplace Management, you lead and manage a remote team of Market Managers within multiple regions across the USA through effective communication and a contagious motivational leadership style. 


  • Data-Driven. Data drives and proves your success.  You are responsible for creating, managing, and facilitating bonus plans, OKRs, and KPIs for your team. 


  • Collaborative. Working in tandem with the Buy-side and Sell-side team, you and your team will ensure collaboration of activities and campaigns, as well as help to drive successful transactions between dealers. 


  • Accountable. Responsible for the tail end of the Buy-side funnel, you and your team will ensure that every deal possible is closed in all markets before the listings expire. 


  • Driven. Aligning with the company's overall goal, you lead yourself and your team diligently and effectively. 


  • Agile. Adaptable to the ever-changing environment of our industry, you navigate change like a pro and can lead a nationwide team through structural and overall business change. 


You Will:  


  • Lead marketplace growth across the USA with clear communication regarding expectations of both individual and team performance.  


  • Conduct regular performance feedback and coaching sessions to develop team sales skills and product expertise. 


  • Create sales strategies tied to business targets for the market, KAR Global solutions, and new offerings to maintain success and promote continued growth.  


  • Drive dealer referrals by ensuring a cohesive and successful relationship between buying and selling dealers. 


You Have:  


  • 5-7 years of proven leadership success, 3-5 of which in leading inside sales teams. 


  • College degree or equivalent professional experience. 


  • Proven sales leadership experience on a national or at minimum a regional scale. 


  • Proven experience in leading yourself and others in sales negotiations, business development, and account management. 



  • Demonstrable knowledge of CRM tools; Salesforce and Pipedrive strongly preferred. 


  • Ability to analyze data, identify market trends, changes and implications, and develop objectives and strategies to optimize the team’s performance based on that data. 


  • Automotive industry experience, preferably selling SaaS platforms into dealerships. 


  • Ability to blend sales acumen, outstanding interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm to stay flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment.
