A Brief Summary of This Position:

This Individual Contributor position supports and assists with the marketing implementation and digital transformation of the Valmont(r) Global Strategic Marketing Team. While working in a collaborative environment, a Senior Graphic Designer at Valmont will be challenged to generate unique design concepts, apply brand standards and implement communication strategies to create a uniform visual aesthetic to the work being performed. Working efficiently to deliver world-class, tech savvy, mistake-free communications supporting the brand in its transformation--paying close attention to detail is a critical part of our design process.

The Senior Graphic Designer will rely on a broad knowledge of design trends, software, workflow processes and file development techniques to complete projects, while applying a high level of creativity and originality to elevate the work to that of a world-class brand. Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, synthesize and process outside input, as well as being able to work under pressure, focus on customer service and be a problem-solver are hallmarks of success in this role. This role will support a variety of work across the company as a whole including brand standards guidelines, logo design, new product launches, product literature, spec sheets, digital marketing campaigns, video production, social media design, PowerPoint presentations, promotional materials, trade shows, etc.

Essential Functions:


  • This position reports to the Marketing Manager-Creative, Global Brand and has no direct or indirect reports

  • This role requires up to 15% travel including overnight stays

  • This position will have mentoring responsibilities to intermediate graphic designers, associate designers and design interns

  • Supports the drafting and development of strategic marketing plans

  • Updates and manages marketing communications materials such as brochures and literature

  • Coordinates and develops material for product launches

  • Responsible for developing and supporting digital marketing campaigns and social posts

  • Has working knowledge of video production from ideation through editorial finish, and able to manage process

  • Manages brand image libraries

  • Aids in creating graphic displays for trade shows

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

  • Assists with the creation and updating of marketing materials including spec sheets, brochures, brand guidelines, PowerPoint presentations and graphics, playbooks and more

Other Important Details about the Role:


  • Coordinates the organization/naming and up-keep of files on the server for Global Strategic Marketing Team

  • Oversees the production process through the development of specifications inclusive of printing and other production requirements

  • Performs press checks and inspects proofs for accuracy

  • Budget development and management skills as related to the production of new digital or traditional media communications

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):


  • Preferred Bachelors with 3+ years of experience or Associates Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Senior level experience in marketing, advertising, digital marketing, pricing, sales, research or product management

  • Computer skills - Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Windows-based computer applications

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present training materials for knowledge transfer and education

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in management, marketing, graphic design or related fields

  • Hands-on experience with logo design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, image selection, package design and video/animation production

  • Knowledge of design software including photo editing, Adobe Creative Suite and Editing Software

  • Experience working collaboratively between cross-functional teams

  • Ability to present design concepts, serving as subject matter expert in formal meetings with project owners for design reviews and approval

  • Proven graphic design skills, backed by a strong portfolio

  • Proven record of increasing responsibility within a large corporate marketing organization

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Travel expectations are 15% domestic, overnight travel.
