Job Description



The Remediation and Overhaul located at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) is seeking a Architectural Historian Project Manager to support decommissioning and demolition projects and the NRF Historic Preservation and Cultural Resource Management Project.

The successful candidate will:


  • Manageprojects associated with historic preservation and cultural resource management at NRF;

  • Identify necessary resources to staff and support projects, define project scope, manage subcontracted relationships;

  • Mitigate project risks, interface with and integrate stakeholders efforts, support personnel, and line management to ensure project objectives are achieved;

  • Maintain NRF's Historical Building Inventory and Performing National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 evaluations;

  • Complete Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) / Historic American Landscape Survey (HALS) according to the National Park Service (NPS) Heritage Documentation Program guidelines;

  • Support construction activities that alter or rehabilitate potentially historic structures projects

  • Interface with regulatory agencies and stakeholders for all historic and cultural resources at NRF.







Required Skills




Senior:

  • Bachelor's degree in History or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience or

  • Master's degree in History or a related related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience

Principal:


  • Bachelor's degree in History or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience or

  • Master's degree in History or a related related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience

Required at Either level:

Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualifications in Architectural History.






Preferred Skills



Experience consulting with the State Historical Preservation Office, Advisory Council for Historic Preservation, local tribes, and public.

Experience working at DOD/DOE sites developing historical documentation.

Strong communication skills with teams, management, and ability to lead teams.

Understanding of National Historic Preservation Act requirements for inclusion into projects.

Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.
