About the Role:

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain strategic commercialization experience in the world of biotechnology. This individual will support commercial input into lifecycle strategy, business development, as well as product and portfolio assessments across small-molecules and gene therapy programs in both Neuroscience and Endocrinology. The intern will have active participation in early commercial planning and market research for Neurocrine's therapeutic candidates from early-stage clinical development through phase III. Key workstreams include market opportunity assessments and lifecycle prioritization for current and potential pipeline programs with emphasis on disease area understanding, competitive landscapes, unmet medical need, reimbursement environment and overall commercial attractiveness.

Your Contributions(include, but are not limited to):


  • Will be involved in planning and execution of market research and analyses to maximize the value of product candidates and research programs in existing and new therapeutic areas.


  • Helps to define Target Product Profiles (TPPs) for cross-functional R&D teams developing novel therapeutic candidates to help inform asset opportunity.


  • Works in conjunction with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, identify and gain insights from scientific thought leaders as needed to inform clinical and commercial development plans.


  • Participates in the development of revenue forecasts and risk-adjusted net present value (NPV) models for all portfolio compounds in collaboration with key business partners (Finance, Clinical Development, etc.).


  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues to help support lifecycle management (LCM) activities and decision-making


  • Provide customer insights and recommendations to help inform clinical development including formulations, dosing, desired endpoints, evidence generation plans and other elements impacting product value proposition and overall commercial viability.


  • Monitors competitive therapies of relevance to Neurocrine to allow development teams to react to new information by strengthening underlying product candidate profiles.


  • Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion of the internship


Requirements:


  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in biotechnology


  • Education in relevant scientific disciplines highly desirable but is not required


  • Pursuing an MBA or advanced degree would be an asset but is not required


  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable


  • Good verbal and written communication skills


  • Knowledge and experience with Excel and PowerPoint


  • Ability to think creatively and be a team player


  • Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously


  • Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more


  • Ability to commit to a10 week,full-time summer program
