Position Description:




PIMCO is looking for a seasoned corporate communications professional to join its dynamic team responsible for engaging media and promoting PIMCO's business, brand and reputation. The role involves three key areas of communications - internal communications, media relations and the creation of informative internal briefings and updates for PIMCO employees on relevant media coverage and issues.
Within media relations, the role will have a particular focus on managing PIMCO's busy broadcast schedule of live TV and radio segments for the firm's thought leaders and portfolio managers, plus proactive outreach to trade publications to promote PIMCO's thought leadership. In addition, the role is responsible for managing executive communications directly - defining key messaging for employee town halls, internal updates and announcements, among other events - and play a significant liaison, advisory and messaging role in all other internal communications from the firm's many other functions. 
This person will be responsible for working collaboratively across all functions at the firm, particularly with the Marketing, HR, portfolio management and product strategies teams. They will also work closely with the firm's executive leadership and senior leaders across the firm. 
This position will report functionally to the Global Head of Corporate Communications in New York. This person should have exceptionally strong news judgement, storytelling and messaging skills and be confident working autonomously and collaboratively. In particular, this person should feel comfortable working with senior leaders and providing thoughtful and useful feedback on communications and reputation issues. 
This is a chance to be part of a small but highly effective global communications team which manages PIMCO's successful media profile. It is an opportunity to work autonomously and make informed, reasoned decisions in real-time based on excellent news judgment and the ability to prioritize are critical. 









Position Requirements:





  • A proven track record at developing and managing media relations programs either from PR agency, corporate or government roles

  • 5-10 years experience with internal communications, including planning, developing and executing effective communications strategies for long-term projects and issues and spur-of-the-moment events

  • Strong oral and written communications skills and a good sense of effective messaging

  • Some experience with creating internal briefing documents on media coverage highlights and key media issues and trends. Some expertise with PowerPoint is preferred.

  • Well organized, high energy/self-starter with the ability to work independently within the firm's demanding and highly focused environment

  • Experience managing reputational risk and advising senior executives on strategy

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, work well in a team environment, and have the ability to interact effectively with other senior level employees and outside contacts

  • Clear commitment to PIMCO's culture, values and approach

  • Relevant experience in investment management or financial services is an advantage but exceptional judgement and understanding the nuances of media messaging and reputation management is more critical

  • Above all else, this person must have sound judgement - on media, reputation, messaging and stakeholder engagement - the ability to assess subjective criteria and make sound judgements
