ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Laborers perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, which may include but are not limited to operating hand / power tools, cleaning / maintaining projects, and assisting other craft workers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Laborers can be tasked to perform any of the following on Leopardo projects:
Cleanup and procurement
Sweep
Pick up debris
Transport tools, equipment, and materials (via hand, cart, hand trucks, etc.)
Assist Carpenters with moving and lifting materials into place
Assemble and disassemble scaffold systems
Load and unload trucks, gondolas, etc.
Wash vehicles/equipment
Scrape floors
Site cleanup and material/equipment organization
Manage site conditions/fencing/roads (e.g. mud cleanup)
Final cleanup (mop, dust, wipe down furniture, sweep, vacuum, etc.)
Sort and organize various equipment, materials, etc.
Barricades and occupied space protection
Install and remove barricades, fence panels, containment, gates, etc.
Set up road and interior signage
Communication with flaggers
Erect interior plastic partitions and mobile containment units
Place floor protection
Install ram board, plastic, etc. over walking surfaces
Install walk-off and sticky mats
Keep these wet throughout the day
Negative air
Check doors for negative air
Create negative air
Move and install HEPA machines, fans, the associated hoses, etc.
Fire protection
Guard/identify fire protection systems (e.g. sprinkler cages, cover smokes)
Seal penetrations (e.g. holes/gaps in walls, floors, etc.)
Install caulk, foam, and other related products
Flagging and signaling
Control the flow of vehicular/pedestrian traffic via stop/slow paddle or flag
Count cars/deliveries/trucks
Keep entrances/walkways clean
Maintain entrance gates
Provide signals to a crane / equipment operator (via hard line, hand, etc.)
Assist with rigging of items to be picked by crane
Demolition
Identify existing structures, utilities, etc. (e.g. spray paint)
Chipping/Bushing/Jack hammering Concrete
Removing and disposing of
Masonry Walls
Drywall Partitions
Flooring
Ceilings
MEP Systems via cutting, burning, etc.
Eliminate dust by wetting demo materials
Winter-related work
Snow-shoveling, snow-blowing, etc.
De-icing (e.g. salting pathways, scraping ice)
Maintaining heaters
Moving heaters and fans
Moving and hanging hoses
Checking air quality
Fall protection
Maintaining perimeter fall protection (e.g. tightening cables)
Safety Monitor
Water removal
Set up pumps, hoses, etc.
Hot work
Fire watch
Concrete
Excavation
Dig footings, culverts, etc.
Fine grade fills
Water removal
Set up pumps, hoses, etc.
Layout
Load and unload delivery trucks
Assist with setting equipment
Shooting grades
Grout anchor bolts
Formwork
Handle and transport formwork to assist carpenters
Strip (remove) formwork
Clean formwork
Concrete placement
Place concrete into formwork (e.g. decks, columns, walls, etc.)
Manage and clean the concrete bucket
Set up, manage, and clean the concrete hose
Deliver concrete to the pour area via mobile equipment, wheel barrow, etc.
Vibrate concrete placement
Grade concrete (e.g. slab-on-grade)
Tools
Light-scale maintenance of tools such as fans, pumps, etc.
Replace parts that are worn or broken
Supervisory Requirements: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education / Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a union laborer in good standing with the union.
