Position Description:

The Healthcare Leader role will operate effectively within the global matrix based organization structure. Will bring their understanding of the healthcare domain and business consulting leadership skills to help our client develop innovative solutions, improve their operating models and execute on strategic opportunities.

Develop and execute a thought leadership agenda across all industry segments served by the service line in collaboration with the segment leaders. Will scale the service line in terms of revenue, service offerings and consultants trained and delivering service line engagements. This includes:


  • Assist in developing annual plans and targets

  • Create and maintain a set of “value add” service offerings for the service line

  • Create and execute a go-to-market strategy each year

  • Attract and retain resources required to deliver the set of service offerings

  • Leverage off-shore resources effectively 

Manage to the annual performance targets including:


  • Revenue

  • Profitability

  • Utilization

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • 15+ years of consulting experience with a top tier consulting firm in the healthcare domain (Payer side / Health Plan)

  • Proven experience managing teams and building collaborative relationships with external and internal partners

  • Have the ability to position industry insights as they pertain to client needs & requirements

  • Experience building deep client relationships and identifying client's priority needs for service and support

  • Deeply understand their client’s business challenges, and provide thought leadership in addressing these issues

  • Work proactively to bring the best of Cognizant expertise to their client(s)

  • Provide leadership and direction on one or more projects while maintaining a high quality level of service.  Ensure quality on all deliverables.

  • Experience developing, pursuing, and closing consulting opportunities

  • Experience with and understanding of the off-shore delivery model

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint).

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred

  • Develop new and enhance existing client relationships at senior C suite levels of client organizations

  • Establish thought leadership position with key stakeholders and long term relationships with key clients – resulting in trusted partner status and repeatable revenue streams

  • Consulting Project Delivery leadership and oversight of multiple smaller consulting projects

  • Provide strong leadership to practice and account teams to increase scope of success and relationship with clients

  • Ability to efficiently manage time and leverage a team - meeting deadlines without sacrificing the quality of the services

  • Ability to leverage expertise within a matrixed organization and within an integrated consulting firm
