Job Description:

The University of Pittsburgh is committed to expanding the number of underrepresented and minoritized individuals who are employed at Pitt.

To achieve this aspiration, Pitt has begun working on a local hiring plan. Part of this commitment includes developing a workforce development plan that includes providing career counseling to passive and active job seekers in the Homewood, Hill District, Hazelwood, and Oakland communities.

The Workforce Development Career Counselor position will be a key role in this partnership with the Pitt Community Engagement Centers and the Office of Human Resources. The Workforce Development Career Counselor will meet with individuals in these local communities and assist them with career counseling and prepare them for potential opportunities at Pitt.

This position is a one-year contract, with the possibility of a second year based on funding.

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field and 2 years of experience career counselling, career management, or relevant experience. Familiarity with laws, regulation, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment is required. Experience working in underrepresented communities and with diverse populations is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred. PHR or SPHR Certification is preferred.
