Job Description:


The Office of Research Protections (ORP) Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for composing and transmitting all strategic communications of the Office to shareholders, including faculty, staff, and students. The employee will also track key stakeholders to assure they receive the strategic communications needed to remain in compliance with prevailing policies and regulations. The Senior Communications Specialist will maintain the main ORP website and provide oversight for websites in all other divisions of the ORP to assure they remain up-to-date, consistent and provide information needed for all stakeholders to remain compliant with regulatory standards.

The Senior Communications Specialist will establish data metrics for each ORP division and will transmit these metrics to the ORP divisions and other stakeholders. The Communications Manager will track the performance of each ORP division through key data metrics including satisfaction surveys of ORP division customers. The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and deployment of innovative learning systems to enhance the professional development and training of the University community regarding ethical research practices. Responsibilities include the design and development of web-based delivery techniques, the analysis of current practices, and the introduction of innovative teaching methods, strategies, and evaluations to improve learning. The Senior Communications Specialist will also serve as the liaison between the ORP and the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program), which hosts the ORP's training modules and have active participation on the Pitt Research Communication Team and Pitt Communication Council. The Senior Communications Specialist must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with individuals from a diverse group of institutional programs. In addition, the individual must have a strong background in website development, communication strategies, and data analytics.
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with prior communications experience is required. Previous experience working in instructional design is strongly preferred.
