Position Summary:

The Center for Health Care Data has a series of projects related to service contracts and research on the impact of social determinants on population health and the challenges of disparity. The Project Manager plans, organizes and coordinates activities ensuring that each project is successfully implemented within budget and on-schedule. The ideal candidate will bring with them a background of work in a socially conscious field (public health, social work, health disparities, community health, psychology, anthropology, advocacy etc.) and demonstrate a history of strong project management skills in organization, planning, budgeting, personnel management and enthusiasm for health disparities research

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates and manages project planning, project development, and strategic planning among various staff and determines proper project delivery methods.
  • Oversees and performs cost estimating, design, project scheduling and budgeting, quality assurance, communication, procurement, project completion, and direct billing of purchase orders for multiple project sites and customers across all project platforms.
  • Identifies, develops, and gathers resources to complete the project. This may include preparing designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, and project staff. May liaise with other operational areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project.
  • Works with faculty and external researchers and CHCD analytic staff to create and deliver reports, manuscripts, white papers and other works of scientific rigor related to the impact of social, economic, and environmental impacts on health.
  • Researches new customer prospects and writes formal proposals for service and contract work bids. Oversees the submission and renewals of formal proposals with administration, UT Health's legal department and outreach site administrators` to generate new income and retention of project sites
  • Ensures project controls, tracking and performance measurement, reporting and project delivery objectives are met. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan; takes action to resolve operational issues and minimize delays.
  • Oversees communications, internally and externally, including community liaison, sponsor engagement and stakeholder partnerships.
  • Responsible for assisting with the management, implementation, and launch of new products and services. Supports upper-management with long-term planning, external relationship development, and staff development.
  • Able to competently represent the Center with stakeholders, partners and other researchers/faculty within the University..
  • Directs and creates professional development, staff training, and mentoring for all project staff.
  • May manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Certification/Skills:

    Minimum Education:

    Bachelor's degree in project management, leadership and planning, administration, or related field.

    Master's or PhD degree in public health or social or behavioral sciences preferred.

    Minimum Experience:

    Seven years of experience in project management.

    Experience with SDOH/ Public Health highly preferred

    Exeprience managing and coordinating teams preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
