Old National is seeking a Training Designer. This position will be responsible for collaborating with Talent, ONU team members and line of business subject matter experts to create learning based on and development needs. The Training Designer will research, design and develop content, partner to acquire and customize training content from external vendors, and provide guidance on content created by the line of business. This role is responsible for strategies to evaluate and measure program effectiveness, updating existing content, planning, and coordinating materials with instructors, and facilitating as needed.

Key Accountabilities:

Consult on learning and development needs:

Collaborates with Talent and ONU team members, and line of business subject matter experts to understand the current knowledge level or skill gap, analyze learning objectives, identify the target audience, recommend training solutions and delivery methods.

Maintains knowledge of business line performance expectations and effectively applies the knowledge to understand and fulfill learning needs.

Recognizes when changing client or organizational expectations require a new approach. Recommends alternate approaches to meet the need and adapts behaviors accordingly.

Design learning solutions:

Designs and develops quality, performance focused, interactive content using instructional design techniques and adult learning principles to create online, virtual, video, and instructor lead training to engage the learner and meet learning objectives. Supplemental training material including job aids, reference guides and other tools will be developed to support learning and development needs.

Develop a comprehensive project plan with key deliverables and milestones beginning with the end in mind.

Evaluates and measures program effectiveness and shares the results with line of business stakeholders.

Maintains and demonstrated in-depth knowledge of regulations, products, process, policy and procedure; updating course material when changes occur and communicating to ONU team members and the line of business.

Reviews and provides feedback on policy or procedural changes. Tests systems releases in the training environment prior to scheduled sessions.

Deliver quality learning experience:

Facilitates instructor-led, virtual and live webinars on ONB systems, process, policies, procedures, and products. Training may also be facilitated to support corporate initiatives, regulation changes, and partnerships.

Prepares for upcoming courses including the coordination of material, system testing, and monitoring of course enrollment.

Utilizes the leader guide and approved course material to engage participants in the learning process via discussion, effective questioning, activities and practice.

Manages the training environment, analyzes results, identifies gaps, coaches participants and provides feedback to their manager as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Education with a concentration in Training or Organizational Development or 4 years' relevant work experience in addition to the minimum requirement preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in learning and developments, instructor-led or virtual delivery preferred.

  • Knowledgeable of adult learning theories and instructional design skills including needs analysis, development of scope, design specifications, performance-based objectives, assessments, and curriculum development.

  • Experience in Artisan, Captivate, HTML, multimedia, and video a plus.

  • Experience uploading courses and creating curriculums in a Learning Management system a plus.

  • Knowledge of regulations; along with Old National's products, policy, procedures, processes and systems a plus.
