Primary Role
The Shift Mechanic may be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.
The schedule is a 12 hour shift, 6:00 AM - 6 PM and 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM which switched monthly. Weeks are 36, 42 or 48 hours
Key Accountabilities
The Shift Mechanic Performs and/or assists in the replacement, repair, preventative maintenance, calibration, and modification of equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed and storage equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution and equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, residual process equipment, telemetry equipment, buildings, and grounds.
The Shift Mechanic must operate water treatment facilities and related appurtenances including, but not limited to, chemical feed equipment, water treatment equipment, valves, hydrants, pumps, standby generation, and residual processing equipment to ensure the safe, reliable production and delivery of the highest quality water.
The individual must be capable of maintaining accurate facility and system records and reports.
Utilizes company systems, programs, and devices including, but not limited to, SAP, CMMS, and mobile computers.
The individual must be capable of operating equipment and vehicles necessary for the completion of assignments and must possess and maintain a valid NJ Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
Additional Key Responsibilities
The individual obtain and maintain 40-Hour Hazwoper certification with associated annual physicals and must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for a Shift Mechanic I-IV.
The Shift Mechanic must possess a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices applicable to area of responsibility.
Mechanic responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Prepares and maintains accurate facility and system records and reports.
Utilizes company systems, programs, and devices including, but not limited to, SAP, CMMS, and mobile computers.
Performs water treatment tests and evaluates water samples, as directed, to ensure process water quality is within established parameters and, if necessary, adjusts treatment process to ensure the integrity of the water supply.
Experience/Education
HS diploma/GED required
Valid drivers license required
NJ DEP T-1 license preferred or ability to earn within 3 years
