The IT QA/Testing Analyst reports to the Manager, IT Quality Assurance and has the responsibility of ensuring the information systems products and services meet organization standards and user requirements. Develops and executes test plans and test cases. Works with technical staff and business users to identify, analyze, prioritize and resolve discrepancies between requirements and systems with minimal supervision. Prefer Healthcare Claims Testing experience.

Requirements:




  1. Education:

Professional level of knowledge in Information Systems Testing, Quality Assurance and Systems Analysis as acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree. Equivalent work experience may be substituted on a 2:1 basis.



B. Knowledge:

Knowledge of the System Development Life Cycle phases

Knowledge of information systems quality assurance and testing best practices and methodologies. Understanding of testing and technical terminology

Preferred:


  • Creating / Coordinating test plans to the appropriate level of testing required and specifies resource and time requirements

  • Experience with healthcare claims applications and business functions

  • Understanding of Project Management concepts and procedures

  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL query language



C. Skills:

Correctly analyzes system functions and recommends appropriate test strategies. Can successfully analyze business requirements and prioritize defects based on knowledge of the business. Demonstrates the ability to create test plans appropriate to the level of testing required and specifies resource and time requirements. Demonstrates the skill to select appropriate test tools and strategies for a particular effort. Demonstrates creative thinking by providing alternative solutions. Demonstrates verbal communication skills by adjusting conversation for the audience. Creates well documented test cases, testing results and defects. Displays initiative by creating, and implementing new testing and quality assurance procedures. Demonstrates teamwork by accepting additional challenges and responsibilities and willingness to assist others. Demonstrates good time management skills by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills by anticipating problems and facilitating a resolution even when given incomplete information. Demonstrates quality by delivering a thoroughly tested system which meets established release criteria. Uses good judgment in assessing system quality by considering the customer needs, ease of use, and usability. Experience with the hardware and software needed to complete assigned task. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Experience with automated testing tools and SQL query language is preferred. Experience with defect tracking systems Performs responsibilities with minimal supervision.



D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:

None



E. Work Experience:

A minimum of 6 months experience working as a QA/Testing Analyst including the ability to write test cases and analyze business requirements. Preferred experience in a Health Care organization.

General personal computer and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); standard office equipment

B. Authority/Decision Making Level:

Demonstrates the ability to independently prioritize daily tasks and assignments to align with department and business objectives. Makes appropriate decisions using available resources to achieve positive outcomes. Participates in the development of procedures for the department. Consults with manager or project lead, as appropriate, to finalize priorities and work products to meet changing priorities.



C. Supervisory Responsibility:

No direct supervisory responsibilities. May act as test lead for assigned projects, coordinating the testing effort and the assigned testing resources.



Problem Solving:

Evaluates and gathers information to obtain a clear understanding of requirements. Uses analytical and problem solving skills to identify test scenarios. Applies business knowledge and technical skills to create necessary test cases. Works with business and technical resources to analyze, recommend, coordinate, or implement quality solutions.



Information Management:

Uses appropriate tools for defect tracking, test case writing, status reporting, and time tracking. Reads, understands and challenges software/system documentation.



Working Conditions:

Possible periods of stress/visual fatigue due to monitor usage and tight deadlines. Works in normal office environment where there is little discomfort to extremes of dust, noise, temperature and the like.
