Successful candidate will possess:

• Massachusetts EEC qualifications for Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher


• Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.


• Excellent Customer Service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.


• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.


• Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.


• Excellent crisis management skills.

Education:

• A minimum of an infant and Toddler CDA and 1-5 years teaching experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain classroom compliance with all federal, state and local regulations related to Head Start/Early Head Start, Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and NAEYC Accreditation.


2. In the absence of the Teacher, ensure that the consistency of care model is fully implemented in the classroom, by executing curriculum and leading other classroom staff, interns and volunteers.

1. With the support of the Teacher, plan and implement curriculum that meets both group and individual child needs.


2. Ensure completion of health and developmental screenings and other child and program assessments.


3. In collaboration with the Lead Teacher and Family Service Worker, serve as a resource to families and work with them in assessing their strengths, interests and needs. In collaboration with the Teacher and Family Service Worker, engage all families in goal setting and formulating Individualized Service Plans that assist their steps toward self-sufficiency.


4. Sustain effective, on-going communication with families, the Teacher, any relevant CTI staff and other parties in the child's life. May include conducting home visits, parent teacher conferences and case management meetings.


5. Maintain all records including observational, behavioral, attendance and other required reports and progress notes.


6. Encourage parents to become engaged in the program and involved in the decision making process through participation on the Parent Policy Council, Parent Center Committee, classroom activities and training opportunities.


7. Seek professional skill development and growth for themselves and others through participation in related skills training, and educational activities.
