Our AFSO reports directly to the FSO and assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security procedures as required by the cleared facility, the Department of Defense (DOD) and other applicable federal standards. The AFSO must be a U.S. citizen and have experience as an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) for commercial businesses. They are familiar in interpreting and ensuring company compliance with related Federal Government and Department of Defense (DoD), regulations including DoD 5220.22-M, NISP Operating Manual (NISPOM).
The Role
Assists the FSO with the overall security program
Processes all required paperwork for clearances submissions, tracks security clearance investigations, and performs administrative support functions, including Access Commander, JPAS, e-QIP, NCAISS, DISS, and SWFT administration
Provides security briefings, debriefings, and awareness training to personnel to include new employees, foreign travel, conference and trade show attendance, OPSEC, exit interviews, etc.
Processes incoming and outgoing classified visit requests and certifications
Reviews required forms and processes/screens security forms (SF86), and provides guidance and instruction to employees to ensure completion of security paperwork
Processes and accurately tracks classified/sensitive documents, hardware, and software to ensure each is properly marked, safeguarded, and transmitted in accordance with the NISPOM and through coordination with government agencies and management
Assists in preparation for facility reviews and inspections
Oversees and assists FSO with self-inspection, vulnerability assessments, inspections and reviews of security processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws
Assists with the development, implementation, retention, organization, and oversight of federal security clearance program
Maintains and monitors adherence with company and federal security policies and procedures to include inspections with DSS, DoD, and other mandates
Oversees and assists FSO with coordination of closeout for all classified projects
Assists with administration of company CUI processes and compliance
Supports other company security disciplines as needed in connection with classified/secure projects
Assists recruiting with verifying clearances for potential candidates
Provides guidance and instruction to employees to ensure completion of security paperwork
Provides instructions and processes CAC, access badges, and other visitor management requests
Owns reviewing and reporting all continuous screening and background check results to ensure adherence to Insider Threat and provide Risk Analysis for FSO and security adjudication
Investigates and reports security violations and incident reports
Creates and maintains personnel security files accurately and efficiently
Maintains all security documentation and files in accordance with DSS requirements
Processes and interprets classified contracts with DD254's and the coordination of clearances with prime and subcontractor security departments
Provides input regarding security matters related to Evergreen's production and submission of presentations, proposals, and quotes as needed
Provides additional support to direct customers on a contract basis, generally related to personnel and contract security
Ensures highest level of confidentiality when dealing with internal and external matters requiring it all times
The Necessities:
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid enhanced driver's license throughout employment
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical, operations, financial, HR, and other procedures as well as contracts, documents, government regulations, qualifications and test reports, etc.
Has at least a current Secret Clearance on date of hire and has the ability to receive and maintain a Top Secret Clearance within a set amount of time
Meets the eligibility requirements as called out in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) per DoD 5220.22-M.
Successfully completes security training any other training deemed appropriate by the CSA. Training requirements are based on the Evergreen facility's involvement with classified or sensitive information.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The AFSO may supervise department activities in the absence of FSO to achieve maximum security requirements and continuity of team productivity.
Work Environment:
This job operates in the office. This role routinely uses office tools, office supplies, computers, and phones. It may also routinely operate a vehicle.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
