The clinical intructor provides clinical supervision and instruction as needed to Nursing Assistant Trainees (while training or working on the nursing units).

Responsibilities

Supervise the Nursing Assistant Trainee on the nursing unit as she/he performs skills taught in the classroom.
• Assist with instruction of the Nursing Assistant Trainees as designated/needed by the Primary Instructor.


• Ensure that the Nursing Assistant Trainee Skills Check List is completed in a timely manner.


• Provide input into evaluation of Nursing Assistant Trainee and assist with trainee testing, as needed.


• Serve as an instructor in annual required in-services for Nursing Assistants.


• Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training.


• Generate and develop ideas, which improve the quality of care for residents or increase job productivity and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• N.Y.S. RN license and current registration to practice as a nurse required.


• At least one year nursing experience in a residential health care facility required.


• Thorough familiarity with both the Nursing Assistant 100-Hour Training Program and the facility policies and procedures for direct nursing care required.


• Organizational skills and ability to relate well with nursing staff, trainees and other disciplines required.


• Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
