Job Description:

Job Summary:
Specializes in preventative, diagnostic, habilitative, and rehabilitative services related to audition and communicative disorders in children birth to 21 years of age.  Provides clinical and professional leadership within the Department.
 
Minimum Job Requirements:



  • Master's Degree in Audiology or Doctorate degree with emphasis in Audiology 


  • Audiologist State of Florida license - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. "Provisional" State of Florida license may be considered. Full state licensure must be earned prior to start date.


  • ASLHA - Amer Speech Lang Hearing Assoc Certificate of Clinical Competency


  • CPR - American Heart Association BLS-  maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

  • Clinical Pediatric Rotation in Audiology or Pediatric Experience in Audiology

  • Level II Background Check - Finger printing background and Good Moral Character Affidavit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Maintains and documents productivity standards set by the Rehabilitative Services Director. Maintains daily log of all patients seen.


  • Records daily patient documentation, statistics, and charges according to departmental standards and any other regulating body.

  • Conducts/interprets behavioral audiological evaluations to determine the existence of type, and degree of hearing impairment relative to the patient’s age and level of function.

  • Conducts/interprets evoked potential evaluations to determine the status of the peripheral and central auditory system (estimation of auditory sensitivity, neural pathway integrity & site of lesion).

  • Conducts/interprets Auditory Processing Disorder evaluations to define the functional status of the auditory nervous system and central auditory processes. Provides recommendations and referrals.

  • Actively counsels patients and families to ensure understanding, acceptance, and adjustment to auditory, vestibular, or related disorders and the special needs of the hearing-impaired child.

  • Prepares an audiological evaluation report indicating patient's apparent problem, prognosis, and recommendations.

  • Remains available for consultation with medical, nursing, and allied health staff. Attends patient care staffing meetings, conferences, and other related meetings pertaining to the care of specific patients.

  • Attends rounds with multidisciplinary team (NICU, CICU, Craniofacial,  and Oncology) and makes recommendations on plan of care for each patient.

  • Accountable to improve access to care by managing throughput and wait times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology preferred.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Able to maintain flexibility in schedule in order to meet patient and business needs.


  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.



  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, caregiver(s), physicians, and co-workers.



  • Able to professionally deal with problems and concerns.



  • Analytical ability necessary to evaluate patient’s condition, interpret and analyze data, assess patient progress, and determine appropriate follow-up.



  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.



  • Ability to problem solve and to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual client's needs.



  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.\



  • Ability to serve as clinical instructor and/or preceptor for Audiology students after 2 years of clinical experience.
