Job Description:

SUMMARY

Perry Ellis International, a fashion and lifestyle company, distributor, and licensor of a broad line of high-quality men’s and women’s apparel and accessory.  We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, can handle multiple projects to join our team as Senior Technical Designer for Rafaella. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work closely with the direct manager to maintain established fit, construction, and quality standards and ensure compliance with those standards


  • Ensure timely completion of garments to meet production deadlines


  • Conduct live model fittings to evaluate how to best achieve the designer’s vision while remaining within cost & calendar requirements


  • Evaluate Prototype samples, Fit samples for measurement and construction accuracy, and quality


  • Review Pre Production samples for construction detail accuracy and raw materials verification


  • Provide approval/rejection feedback to appropriate recipients for fit samples and size set samples for measurement and construction accuracy, and quality


  • Provide technical guidance to appropriate recipients for fit samples alterations


  • Populate and maintain PDM Data Tables to support product technical specifications


  • Successfully build excellent working relationships with in-house colleagues in design/merch/sourcing as well as overseas agents/vendors


  • Troubleshoot daily issues and partner with the direct manager to attain the best solution or course of action for a quick resolution.


  • Proactively identify and solve potential development and production issues


  • Perform related duties as assigned or necessary

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:


  • Knowledge of the entire women’s sportswear apparel production process, domestic and oversees product development, from concept to delivery


  • Knowledge of apparel construction (methods & machinery) for both sample making and bulk production


  • Knowledge of pattern making and grading


  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Must be flexible and have the ability to openly embrace changes dictated by market conditions


  • Skill in creating concise technical spec packages for use by our vendors


  • Ability to analyze fit issues and propose valid & actionable solutions


  • Knowledge of  PLM, Illustrator, Gmail, Google Suite


  • Time management: ability to organize time used effectively to meet various strict deadline dates

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design or equivalent direct work experience


  • 8 years of experience in Technical Design
