Position Description:

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and product, corrective actions and the follow up for the implementation, training and sustaining of these systems. Directs and coordinates activities concerned with development, implementation, application, maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management Systems (ISO, FSSC/PAS, GMP) and site metrics.

Responsibilities:


  • Management Representative for any certified quality management, food safety, food defense system (e.g., ISO, FSSC, GMP).

  • Ensures Quality Management, Food Safety, Food Defense and where applicable regulatory compliance (e.g., Ohio Agriculture).

  • Manage a food safety team and organize its work

  • Ensure relevant training and education of the food safety team members

  • Ensure that the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated

  • Report the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system to top management.

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical or mechanical.

  • Develops, maintains and implements Systematic Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement events including Internal Audits, Corrective, Preventive Action Systems including Customer Complaints, Internal Corrective/Preventive Action and Continuous Improvement events.

  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.

  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.

  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess costs and responsibility.

  • Directs as needed manufacturing/quality associates engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

  • Complies and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Organizing and coordinating schedules

  • Responsible for reporting food safety issues to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Qualifications:


  • Associates or Bachelors degree or related quality experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of SPC, basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision on completion of projects or assignments.

  • Analyzing and interpreting data;

  • Communicating with Associates

  • Creating written communication.

  • Supervise, make decisions.

  • Ability to use Telephone, Calipers, Optical Comparator, Micrometers

  • Lifting and carrying 15 – 40 lbs., frequently bending, kneeling, and reaching;

  • Standing for long periods of time.


  • Climbing steep stairways, ladders.
