JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs safe and efficient duties necessary in the heavy construction industry. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. Must be able to travel (relocate) from jobsite to jobsite for continued employment, able to work both scheduled and non-scheduled overtime, and able to work night (second or third) shift assignment. If slipforming operation is in progress, able to work 12 hours or more per day, 7 days per week, for two weeks plus period of time.

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE


  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Work with hand tools and other equipment necessary to complete a task

  • Maintain jobsite

  • Preserve and maintain work being done, as well as, completed work

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Capable of working outdoors in adverse (less than favorable) weather conditions.

  • Capable of working at 200 feet plus elevation.

  • Capable of working at a depth up to 30 feet below ground level or floor.

  • Capacity for working where Fall Arresting type personal protective equipment is required.

  • Capable of work on two-point (window washer) suspended scaffold.

  • Capable of working on interior multi-point suspended scaffold.

CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Limited ability to read/understand Assembly Drawings and instructions.

  • Ability to read/understand Trouble Shooting manuals.

  • Knowledge/experience in utilizing Dry Chemical Type (ABC) fire extinguisher.

  • Basic ability to “layout work”, usual work assignments for the craft/trade.

  • Ability to utilize ruler/tape measure to 1/16 of an inch.

  • Ability to use with accuracy Spirit/carpenter level.

  • Ability to use with accuracy Carpenter, bevel and tri squares.

  • Ability/knowledge/experience in utilizing ANSI Crane hand signals.

  • Ability/experience in receiving, understanding and reacting to verbal transmitted instructions/commands via two-way radio.

  • Limited ability/knowledge/experience in performing safety maintenance equipment check for hand and power tools, construction and portable equipment utilized by the craft/trade.

  • Basic mechanical abilities to perform maintenance, adjustment and minor repair on hand and power tools, construction and portable equipment utilized by the craft/trade.

  • Working knowledge/experienced in the common methods of torquing cap screws and high strength bolt assemblies.
