Senior Benefits Analyst - Deferred Compensation at Ameriprise Financial in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job DescriptionResponsible for the administration and oversight as a main point of contact for the company's deferred compensation plans. As part of the Benefits team, partner with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective plan administration, compliance and participant communications. Ensure accurate and efficient payouts in coordination with Payroll. Serve as an integral part of the team to manage all of the annual plan activities.Responsibilities Work closely with external vendor partners to ensure the deferred compensation plans are operating efficiently. Balance and audit transactions to ensure fiscal accountability and adherence with plan documents. Serve as subject matter expert to work with vendor partners to ensure effective plan communications and participant experience. Responsible for back office processing of upcoming vesting activities and processing participant distributions.Partner with internal business colleagues to ensure the plans continue to run smoothly and in accordance with the plan documents. Some of these other groups include the HR technology team, Payroll, Finance and Legal. Be an advocate and champion for the plans and their participants, balancing the employee experience with the strict compliance requirements. Respond to inquiries from employees and participants on all questions related to various plans. Research, recommend action and oversee resolution of all questions that are submitted through email or phone calls. Direct vendor to make changes. Drive annual updates to plan guides and participant communications. Work as needed on issues impacting enrollment, eligibility, contributions, distribution elections or other employee concerns.Help coordinate and execute ongoing key processes and projects to support plan changes and enhancements. Support implementation activities and initiatives, such as vendor system enhancements and new functionalities. Ensure both the short-term and medium-term deliverables are met for required annual activities. Assist in pulling data and information for audits and other compliance filings, as required. Respond in a timely manner to issues escalated from other HR COEs - both on an individual basis and also to identify trends. Represent the plan and functional area as the expert when working to answer questions and resolve issues. Be an active participant in strategic conversations to enhance and improve offering going forward. Serve as backup to functional leader when needed. Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree or equivalent.3-5 years' relevant experience within HR, Finance, Benefits or recordkeeping.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to deliver complex information in an easily understood manner.Demonstrated customer service skills.Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employee and management.Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.Demonstrated attention to detail and audit capabilities.Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Outstanding organizational and project management skills.Preferred QualificationsMore advanced Excel skills - including working with large amounts of data and able to efficiently audit, calculate and summarize data.Experience with qualified and non-qualified plan administration and recordkeeping processes.Understanding of ERISA and IRS Code 409A.About Our CompanyWith the right company, life can Be Brilliant.
